no time for sleeping. best friends. hundreds of die hard harry potter fans cheering at the universal gates at 5am. sprinting through the park to reach london first. anticipation. owls in your tummy. hedwig's theme blaring. opening ceremonies. fireworks. more running. turning that corner and seeing diagon alley for the first time. confetti. wizards clapping for you on both sides and shouting "welcome to diagon alley!" as you walk down a red carpet towards a fire breathing dragon. crying. weasley's wizard wheezes. more crying. escaping gringotts. bellatrix lestrange casting a spell on your cart causing you to plummet into the pits of gringotts. chills. screams. BILL WEASLEY BEING A STAR. voldemort being a sexy beast. more screaming. butter beer ice cream. knockturn alley. magic around every single corner.
i had been sad that i was missing out on the "soft" openings at diagon alley before this day. bitter that i didn't have the chance to see it for myself and having to look at a constant slew of pictures. it turns out that waiting for opening day was the best decision i could make. nothing, and i mean nothing, could ever compare to the feeling we all had during the opening ceremony this morning. walking into diagon alley on a red carpet, with witches and wizards clapping on either side of us, welcoming us home. confetti falling from the sky. childhood dreams coming true with every step we took, every glance we made.
